William D. "Butch" Boyd
1941-2007
Isn't it amazing how dreams can do so much?  Many years ago, a young man had the dream of helping, educating, and caring for the youngsters of Alabama.  The manifestation of that dream was the development and operation of The Boyd School, Inc.
Throughout it's years of operation, Butch's dream has endeavored to make the lives of over 800 young men better, more stable, and productive.  The enrichment he brought to those young lives is immeasurable.
Butch was not only busy running Boyd School, but also involved in many projects, committees, and organizations for no other reason than to better the lives of his fellow citizens and the communities in which they lived.  From State wide politics to local volunteer fire departments and water boards, Butch tirelessly worked in order to enrich the lives of those he served.
He was a God fearing man with a deep love for his family and friends.  His strong personality coupled with his gentle nature made for a very unique individual.  His high standards, derived from deep rooted morals and values, was the driving force behind his actions.  Butch's stature and physical presence, combined with a booming voice, could often be intimidating.  But those of us lucky to know him, to truly know and love him, understood what a "teddy-bear" he really was.
His death has left sense of indescribable loss for all that knew him.
